Catbridge Slitter/Rewinder Suited for Nonwovens

MONTVILLE, NJ | Catbridge Machinery says its new 324-32 slitter/rewinder changes the decades-long approach to nonwoven converting. Turreted slitter/rewinder can slit to narrow widths and rewind on a common shaft to either a standard 32-in. dia or an extended-range 40-in. dia.

Company says the 324-32 can produce two to three times more throughput than the two-drum surface winders traditionally used for nonwoven converting since the two-drum winder’s throughput is limited by shaft handling. Cantilevered turret design eliminates shaft handling and allows cores to be loaded while the machine is running.

Reportedly, roll quality is regulated by unique features: A short, controlled distance from slitting to core helps maintain proper tension and minimize web displacement, even for fragile materials, and a special cutoff and transfer system squarely cuts the web, creates very short tails, and places these tails precisely for roll starts and last wraps. The 324-32 also provides a safety protocol, managed by a safety PLC.
