Fischer & Krecke Launches New FP 15-S Flexo Press at Open House

BEILEFELD, GERMANY | At a recent open house, with a theme of “The Key to Premium Flex,” Fischer & Krecke (F&K) presented its new FP 15-S flexo press as the first of a new series of compact CI flexo solutions, designed specifically to meet the requirements of flexible packaging printing.
The new addition to the FLEXPRESS family, featuring print widths of 1250 mm, repeat lengths up to 880 mm and covering a very wide range of applications, detailed its innovative machine concept, ensuring easy handling and fast change-overs, thereby meeting the ongoing demand for shorter print runs.
“The first Open House in our new Technology Centre was a big success, although some of the registered visitors from abroad were not able to attend because of the recent disruption to air travel by the Icelandic volcano activity,” explained Kim-Regin Sustmann, Sales & Marketing Director for F&K.
“The visitor feedback on this new product series was very positive, encouraging, and clearly shows that in accordance with the theme of the event, we have launched a series which users consider as their key to successfully mastering current and future demands of flexible packaging printing,” says Sustmann. “This is supported by the fact that even prior to the formal and official product launch we had sold several machines.”
Logically, the focus of the scheduled machine demos was on user-friendly and fast job change-overs. The new model, like the bigger members of the FLEXPRESS family, is available with smartGPS technology, which has just won the prestigious USA FTA Innovation Award of 2010.
According to Ms. Silvia Grossi of Gamma Pack SpA, Italy, one of the first buyers of the new FP 15-S model, it was the concept of the new machine in conjunction with smartGPS, which persuaded Gamma Pack to buy it. “The user-friendly concept and the very fast job make-ready—as well as the high printing quality—have been the key factors in favor of the FP 15-S investment, when compared to other suppliers we evaluated,” she explained.
The “face-to-face” winders configuration of the FP 15-S presented, also attracted much attention. This innovative configuration is said to reduce considerably the footprint of the machine, facilitates the roll handling as it is done from one position only for both unwinder and rewinder, clearly separates the CI and winding sections, and enables rapid access to both sections from the centralized input station located between the winders and the CI.
The formal presentations were completed by live print demos on a 10C FP 16-S press and slitting on a Titan ER610 slitter rewinder, which is also available in the Fischer & Krecke Technology Centre.
