South American Flex-Pack Converter Installs BST Defect Detection

ELMHURST, IL | BST Pro Mark (www.bstpromark.com) announces the successful conclusion of a trial at Plastilene, S.A., (www.plastilene.net/) Bogotá, Colombia, of automatic defect detection on its BST Premius inspection systems. The leading South American converter of flexible packaging has completed purchase of three machines that had been installed during the trial on three Premius inspection systems on W&H (www.whcorp.com) flexo presses.

Plastilene conducted the trial over two months’ time to test the effectiveness of defect detection,  to quantify the impact, and determine its return on investment. As a converter of flexible packages for solid and liquid food and agricultural products, the company prints on a wide range of extensible films at high speeds.

Plant manager Said Alejandro Defrancisco comments, "The trial showed that BST Premius with automatic print defect detection is an extremely effective tool for managing print quality on press. It  contributes significantly to better print quality, reduced waste, and improved production efficiencies, while allowing us to deliver the very best possible quality product to our customers on a daily basis."
