ST. LOUIS, MO | Performance was the name of the game for Mark Andy at Labelexpo Europe 2009 as the company debuted it's latest innovation, Mark Andy Performance Series. A completely new press design for Mark Andy, the Performance Series P7 showed "real time" capabilities during several demonstrations held daily throughout the show.
Demonstrations were targeted to prove key converter requirements to which the press was designed, including faster set-ups and changeovers, ease of operation, expanded capabilities, open access, reduced waste, higher throughput, environmental friendliness and advanced print quality.
With a single operator, the company demonstrated complete changeovers of one five-color job to another five-color job in an average of three minutes and 40 seconds (tracked by a visible stopwatch) consistently throughout the day. Also shown was a repeat change (96T to 128T), set and put into perfect impression and registration in less than one minute. Material waste was tracked with an on-press web length counter and the Performance Series P7 never used more than 17 meters of material between job changes. The demonstrations solidified the press' claim of leading the industry in both cost savings and speed.
Converters recognized the Performance Series as the latest solution in delivering consistently high quality while maximizing every cost saving aspect of the in-line printing process. One German converter commented, "I can see how this machine can impact my business immediately. And, it is designed for the European market. Mark Andy has finally done it."
Mark Andy has already sold six of these machines, two of which are installed and running production. Additionally, two Performance Series P7 machines have been assembled to provide demonstrations for converters interested in taking a closer look. The Mark Andy Europe showroom in Basel, Switzerland, has installed an eight-color P7 with full-UV and chill-drum technology. The Mark Andy world headquarters in St. Louis, MO (USA), also has an eight-color P7 with both hot air and full-UV with chill drum technology.
