Graphic Solutions Inc. Buys BKL Assets for EL Lamp Line

BURR RIDGE, IL, USA—Graphic Solutions Inc. reports the acquisition of the assets of BKL Inc., King of Prussia, PA. According to the pressure-sensitive label custom printer, BKL is a leading provider of electroluminescent (EL) lamps that serves the global automotive, portable and hand-held electronics, consumer products, toy, and novelty markets. Graphics Solutions adds BKL's EL lamps can be found in products ranging from toys, night lights, clocks, and watches to mobile phones, PDAs, wireless devices, and automotive instrument panels.

Also a printer of nameplates, polycarbonate panels, RFID (radio frequency identification) antennas, and thin and flexible batteries (for micropower source technology and devices), Graphic Solutions Inc. (GSI) announced the BKL asset purchase on July 7, 2003. Says GSI president Suzanne Zaccone, "This was a strategic acquisition for us as it will strengthen our position within this product line through the equipment we have purchased and will enable us to provide better customer service with the experience we have gained with the BKL staff."

GSI plans to maintain the BKL operation in King of Prussia for a few months and then transition the company to the Chicago suburb of Burr Ridge sometime this fall. "The EL [employees] at both locations are eager to integrate our abilities, equipment, and people so we can further complement the work we already are handling in the EL arena," says GSI VP Bob Zaccone. He adds the new division will be known as BKL, a Graphic Solutions Inc. company.
