WEST HARTFORD, CT & IPSWICH, MA, USA—Like most other trade shows, the K Show, slated to run 25 October through 1 November in Düsseldorf, Germany, will have its share of production introductions. According to Matik North America (the exclusive distributor of Goebel Schneid-und Wickelsysteme for North America and Mexico) Goebel S&W will demo its Goebel optima 2000 center/surface duplex slitter/rewinder at the international plastics exhibition.
With the capability of operating in either center/surface, friction, or pure center-winding mode on either one or two rewind shafts, the optima 2000 is said to convert a wide range of materials (from thin aluminium and plastic films to all paper and laminate grades). Matik reports the slitter/rewinder is available in widths up to 53 in. (larger by request) with maximum rewind diameters of 24 or 31.5 in. The slitter/rwinder reportedly runs up to 1640 fpm.

EREMA also will show new products in Düsseldorf this fall. An improved classic repelletizing system (with up to 30 percent-increased throughput) will be a highlight at the EREMA booth (#C21, Hall 9). Other highlights include: a hot die face pelletizing system with knife service life that's said to be increased up to 9 times; the Coax recycling system used for direct processing of waste bales; a washer for post consumer material (from a EREMA subsidiary, WAREMA); and a variety of additional recycling technologies.
Concurrent with the K Show, EREMA will run a demo of its Vacurema process in its technical center in Linz, Austria. According to the co., FDA-certified Vacurema allows the direct reclaim of washed post-consumer PET bottle flakes into high-quality, food-contact-grade flat sheet for thermoforming applications.
