Green Bay to Chicago Declared 'Strongest' Converting Corridor

GREEN BAY, WI –| Converting Influence, a group of converter-manufacturers, declares that the Green Bay-to-Chicago Converting Corridor is America's strongest. “In fact,” says Dennis Curtin of Press Color Inc., “many manufacturers believe the Green Bay-to-Milwaukee area could also make that claim.” Those polled among the 100 businesses in the group agreed that these areas are the US hot spot for converting products, from tissue to labels, foil laminated pouches to wipes, napkins to wall paper, and more. Converted products are made from paper, film, foil, laminates, and nonwovens roll goods.
The strength of this lineup of converters from Wisconsin to Illinois is not always recognized, according to the group, because so many companies are contract converters working to deliver products for large national brand partners.
In the tissue sector, for example, these converters claim they are especially strong in this region. In addition to American Custom Converting producing tissue/poly laminates such as painter's drop cloths, many of these converters use tissue substrates. They include Graham Medical, provider of hospital patient disposables; Larsen Converting, printers of tissue overwrap; Midwest Specialty Products, serving restaurant and other niches; Nichols Paper, printer-converter; Sellars Wipers, converters of wipers and absorbent disposables; Tufco Technologies, producer of wipes and printed products; Waldan Paper, with tissue wrap printing and converting, and many other companies.
Precision Paper Converters is another example of a tissue industry converting specialist. The company recently purchased a new tissue converting line consisting of an interfolder, servo-driven sheet cutter, a fully automated cartoner, and related material handling equipment.
Other companies in the group convert films and laminates, nonwovens, and supply the industry from equipment to inks, construction and engineering services, and more.
Converting Influence is a group that provides news and information through meetings, online listings and e-mailers about materials including paper, film, and nonwovens, plus processes such as rewinding, sheeting, folding, packaging, coating and laminating, flexographic printing, equipment, and associated services for converters. “Anyone who thinks manufacturing is on the decline in the US should come to our meetings and expo here in Wisconsin,” says Susan Stansbury, Converting Influence Director.
