Smurfit-Stone Supports Corrugated Future with Latest ICPF Pledge

CHICAGO, IL, USA—The International Corrugated Packaging Foundation (ICPF) will benefit again from its long-time benefactor Smurfit-Stone Container Corp. That's according to Smurfit-Stone, who recently pledged an additional $250,000 (US) over the next five years to the ICPF. The money will help fund learning and career-development opportunities within the corrugated packaging industry. reports the co. Smurfit-Stone recently completed the final installment of its 1996 $250,000 (US) pledge to the ICPF.
"ICPF is helping to shape tomorrow's workforce in the corrugated industry," says Ray Curran, Smurfit-Stone president/CEO. "Our support speaks to the high level of commitment we have to independent corrugators as well as to the future success of the packaging industry." According to the supplier, independent converters are a primary customer base of the company's board sales division.
A foundation sponsored by the Association of Independent Corrugating Converters (AICC) and the Fibre Box Association (FBA), ICPF is not-for-proft organization that supports greater public and student understanding of the corrugated packaging industry, with an emphasis on workforce issues and careers.
