Heidelberg Wins GATF InterTech Award

HEIDELBERG, GERMANY | Prinect Inpress Control, the inline color measuring system from Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG (Heidelberg), was this year’s winner of the prestigious InterTech Award presented by the Graphic Arts Technical Foundation (GATF).

The faster set-up times of this inline measuring system, which resulted from the machine no longer having to be stopped for sheet pulls and measurements, made a particular impression on the panel of judges. Both inking up and registration are faster, and the machine—which Heidelberg unveiled at Ipex 2006—does not need to be stopped, reducing paper waste.

The inline measuring and control system is available for Speedmaster XL 75, Speedmaster XL 105, Speedmaster XL 145, and Speedmaster XL 162 presses.

The PIA/GATF InterTech Technology Award has been presented annually since 1978. It is awarded to particularly innovative technologies that are of concrete benefit to the print media industry and are aimed at advancing technical progress in the industry. The nominated innovations must have been launched recently but also have been tried and tested under industrial production conditions and expected to have a significant impact on the industry over the next five years.
