FORT MILL, SC | In honor of the late Dr. Bernard Henry, Oxford Univ., and his contributions to the field of vacuum coating and barrier, the Society of Vacuum Coaters (SVC) Foundation and the Assn. of Industrial Metallizers, Coaters & Laminators (AIMCAL) will again sponsor a 5k Fun Run at its upcoming Fall Technical Conference, October 19—22 in Myrtle Beach, SC. Dr. Henry was a scientist renowned for his work in the field of flexible gas barrier materials. The association says that honoring Dr. Henry with a 5k run pays tribute to his strong athletic skills and involvement with children and athletics.
A limited number of corporate sponsorships are available. The cost is $250 and includes publication in the conference program and AIMCAL newsletter, along with logo presentation on the event T-shirt. The cost for each runner is $25 and includes a souvenir shirt. All proceeds go to the Bernard Henry Memorial Scholarship Fund, which is approximately half way toward its goal of $50,000.
Proceeds from the event will go toward creating a lasting scholarship opportunity to worthy students in the field of vacuum coating and barrier. To sign up as a corporate sponsor, contact Tracey Ingram at the AIMCAL office at 803-802-7820 by Sept. 21, 2008.
