Converting School Hosts Two September Courses

FORT MILL, SC | The AIMCAL Converting School is hosting two courses in Philadelphia in September: “Web Handling and Converting” from September 16-17, and “Winding: Machines, Mechanics and Measurements” from September 18-19. Dr. David Roisum of Finishing Technologies will be the instructor for both courses.

The “Web Handling and Converting” course, offered through the Converting School of Assn. of the Industrial Metallizers, Coaters & Laminators, focuses on the essentials that are required to understand most web manufacturing, as well as converting machines such as coaters, laminators, printers, and winders. Topics include rollers, controls, nips, spreading, slitting, wrinkling and winding. This course explains the fundamental physics behind web machinery operation to provide guidance on how to troubleshoot real problems using a range of measurement and analysis tools.

The “Winding: Machines, Mechanics and Measurements” course covers winding, including unwinds, slitters, spreaders, and roll handling. Topics include winder options, winding machine mechanical and control details, winding theory, roll quality measurement techniques, and roll defect analysis. Though theory is included, emphasis is placed on practical problem-solving techniques to prevent, identify, and rectify real-world challenges.
