Gordonsville, Virginia – February 26, 2008 – Klöckner Pentaplast was honored as one of the six recipients of the 2007 Dannon Supplier of the Year Awards at a gala dinner in New York City on January 22. The Dannon Company established this award presentation for the first time this year to recognize their corporate business partners and the contributions they make to the company's success. Klöckner Pentaplast won its award in the Raw Materials and Packaging category for consistent quality, excellent technical and customer service, superior innovation, commitment to growth requiring capital investment, and risk taking.
Nominees for the Awards were evaluated by cross-functional taskforce at Dannon and the final selection of Award winners was made by the entire Dannon Executive Committee. "It is the philosophy of Groupe Danone and Dannon that the Sourcing and Supplier Development teams must enhance the relationship with our business partners," said Francois Blanckaert, Vice President of Sourcing and Supplier Development for The Dannon Company. "Rather than examining only cost or the transactional value of our relationships, we look at total value creation. We know that innovation will come not only from within Dannon or Groupe Danone but also from externally via our business partners. So, through close relationships and through improved recognition of our partners, we are in effect bringing the outside inside. It is an evolution of the traditional purchasing function."
"We have tremendous respect for Klöckner Pentaplast and are grateful for the contributions they make to our success," said Francois Blanckaert, Vice President of Sourcing and Supplier Development for The Dannon Company.
"We are delighted to have received this award and honored to be among those business partners recognized for their contributions to the success of The Dannon Company," comments Michael Tubridy, president and COO of Klöckner Pentaplast/Americas. "Our two companies share the same strong commitment to developing products of the highest quality and to providing innovative solutions to our customers."
