LatinPack 2002 Signals Thumps Up

MEXICO CITY, MEXICO—LatinPack 2002 gives its annual conference, LatinPack 2002, a big thumbs up, says a recent release from the industry firm. "Over 110 professionals, mostly from Mexico's plastic converting and packaging industries, attended this year's conference and agreed on the [high] quality and substance of the 18 technical papers and roundtable discussions held during the two-day event (June 24 and 25, 2002, Sheraton Maria Isabel Hotel, Mexico City).
LatinPack officials report Angel Oria (president of the National Association of the Plastic Industry—ANIPAC) and Rafael Blanco (director of the Mexican Institute of the Plastic Industry—IMPI) were the event's keynote speakers. "They highlighted the evolution, growth, and trends of the plastic industry, particularly in the packaging sector," says LatinPack. "With double-digit growth and a per-capita consumption of 25 kg/yr, the Mexican plastic industry is set for a promising future in both local and export markets. NAFTA and other regional trade agreements will serve as a springboard for this growth," adds the conference organizer.
