Graph Expo News: NPES Enhances Greater China Project with Cal Poly's GrCI and I.O. Technologies

RESTON, VA, USA—NPES, the Association for Suppliers of Printing, Publishing, and Converting Technologies, announced plans for an ambitious web-based online training and education program Sunday at Graph Expo and Converting Expo here in Chicago. NPES says the program is the latest enhancement to its market-development campaign whose roots go back two decades.

NPES is partnering with I.O. Technologies and the Cal Poly Graphic Communications Institute (GrCI) in the new initiative to deliver online learning opportunities for graphic arts industry professionals throughout greater China. According to NPES, "With curricula, software, and other resources provided by Cal Poly and I.O. Technologies, the web-based effort will be headquartered in and operated by the Shanghai Training Center. The online education program expands the use of proven electronic tools through the training center to reach out to more Chinese industry professionals than ever before."

NPES says, as part of the new alliance, I.O. Technologies will provide its On-Line Learning Excellence (ollé) approach to web-based learning and course content with its InfoFind glossary of more than 12,000 industry and related terms. In addition, GrCI will deliver course content, "building on its nationally respected university-level graphic arts curriculum." NPES adds, GrCI will provide certificates of completion for students who have completed the self-directed learning program.

NPES says it will provide support through the Shanghai Center, including administrative, web portal hosting, e-commerce and marketing services, and translation and conversion of courseware; the on-line training is expected to be up and running in early 2004.

Moving into the on-line environment is a natural step and one for which the Center is strongly qualified."
