Presstek Names New DI Partner: KBA

HUDSON, NH, USA—Presstek Inc. announced it's formed a new strategic partnership with Koenig and Bauer AG (KBA), Würzburg, Germany. As part of the deal, the manufacturer reports, KBA will be selling its new digital press, the 46 Karat, which utilizes Presstek's ProFire imaging technology.
According to Presstek, the 46 Karat will be introduced at KBA's open house today (Oct. 12) and tomorrow (Oct. 13) in Germany. The Karat digital press will be available for commercial sales in Europe (excluding the UK) beginning November 1, 2001, says the co. Additionally, KBA will be distributing and selling Presstek's Dimension200 and Dimension400 CTP (computer-to-plate) systems (which include Presstek's Anthem plate) outside the US and Canada.
"We are extremely satisfied to announce our new partnership with KBA, one of the world's most prestigious press manufacturers," says Presstek president/CEO Robert Hallman. "To date, Presstek's relationship with KBA has included a DI licensing agreement for the 74 Karat digital press. The expanded relationship will now include the use of [our] DI technology in the 46 Karat, the sale and distribution of the Dimension platesetters, as well as future projects.
