Valmet recently hosted the Valmet Technology User Group (VTUG) Conference. The immersive experience was held February from 17-20, 2025, in Orlando, Florida. The event showcased to its customers the company’s latest technology advancements for the pulp and paper industry.
This was the first event of its kind in North America, bringing together over 60 customers from mills across North America. The newly expanded conference program included sessions on wet end and finishing processes, as well as shoe press and winders technologies, the focuses of past years’ conferences.
With Valmet presenters encompassing over 220 years of combined industry experience, the conference featured a comprehensive agenda. Attendees could explore a broad range of topics. Wet end process topics included headbox processes and maintenance, and breast roll shaker maintenance. Finishing process topics including reel processes, threading, calender and coating.
Valmet offered live demonstrations of its cutting-edge technology, including its Training Simulator, which provides safe and realistic procedure and scenario training for operators and other mill staff. The VTUG also featured Valmet’s Virtual Mill platform, which is designed to provide a digital design twin of a customer’s machinery to help train operators and maintenance personnel.
Additionally, the VTUG provided a range of networking opportunities to allow attendees to connect with peers and build lasting relationships within the Valmet user community. Attendees were also able to discuss innovations and explore ideas that can help them enhance their own operations.
“The success of this conference underscores the importance of collaboration and continuous learning. As we move forward, we remain committed to fostering strong relationships with our customers and advancing our technological expertise,” said Michael Nelson, Director, Board, Paper and Tissue Solutions, North America, Valmet.
