PGI Provides Industry with Price-Friendly Proofing Product

BEDFORD, MA, USA—Polaroid Graphics Imaging (PGI) LLC announces a pricing "breakthrough" in its proofing system offerings. According to the manufacturer, the highly successful PolaProof 1420 Imager Gold Digital Halftone Proofing System now is being offered at a list price of $49,500 (US); the co. says the new pricing includes all of PolaProof 1420's newest features, including "SpotOn" for highly accurate spot-color checking.

"As a result of aggresstive cost reduction in the PolaProof 1420 Imager Gold platform," says PGI VP, GM David McCarthy, "we've brought the entry price for the industry's highest quality digital halftone proofing system to a level [that's] affordable by companies across the industry-size spectrum; [it's now affordable for smaller operations], not just for larger operations. Positioning [this proofing system] under the $50,000 price threshold significantly widens our market potential among small- and medium-size printers that have a need for high-quality digital halftone proofing," McCarthy adds.

PGI reports the PolaProof 1420 Gold Imager delivers a high-resolution, realistic proof that matches the actual press sheet with unparalleled accuracy. The system uses patented LAT (Laser Ablation Transfer) technology to transfer pigmented printing inks by directly imaging or transferring to actual printing substrates. Co. adds system is easy to use and features a wide selection of industry standard color sets (including metallics, spot colors, and opaque white).
