Wisconsin Converting Technology Event Announced

The Wisconsin Converting Industry, in conjunction with FVTC*, has announced a half-day event December 10 in Appleton, Wisc. Focus of the meeting will be emerging efficiency developments; seamless and automated processing; and introduction of an industry leadership team whose goal is to advance industry news.

Wisconsin’s converters use “mill rolls” of paper, films and nonwovens substrates and add value through many processes that result in products ranging from dental bibs, to labels, wallpaper and wet wipes. While some areas in the related roll goods industry are experiencing slower growth, the converting industry’s expansion is occurring at a faster pace, according to Susan Stansbury, event host. “In fact, a number of these companies are working five days a week but would operate seven days if they could hire enough production employees—despite a current slowdown in manufacturing generally.”

Wisconsin’s converting industry is the largest in the nation, particularly in the “converting corridor” from Green Bay to Milwaukee where many small to mid-sized producers operate, often contracted by large national brand partners.

Event hosts are Stansbury and technical experts from the industry . Stansbury is a contributing editor to PFFC-online.com (paper-film-foil converter). Emily Patten of ConvertersExpo will be on hand as a meeting sponsor (ConvertersExpo will be held again in 2020 at Lambeau Atrium). The December 10 event begins at 9:30 am; followed by the program and lunch. After lunch a tour of the FVTC print center is offered. Registration cost is $30 and tabletop displays are available.
