Company says extended shoulders provide a broader footprint to better distribute roll weight inside the box, help to maintain box integrity, and ultimately improve box stacking and handling.  Reverse shoulders facing inward toward the roll achieve a minimal box length, which reportedly is often better sized for pallet shipments.
