DUSSELDORF, GERMANY | At drupa, Kodak, Rochester, NY, announced that Toppan Forms Co. Ltd., one of Japan’s leading business forms and data printing services, had acquired its fourth KODAK PROSPER 5000XL press. In 2011, Toppan Forms installed three PROSPER 5000XL presses as the primary technology to drive growth and expand into new markets.
“Over the past several months, we’ve seen a tremendous increase in both jobs and volumes—spanning a number of applications—that are produced on the PROSPER 5000XL press,” said Toshiro Masuda, senior managing director, Toppan Forms Co. Ltd. “Our existing presses have been running at full production, and the addition of a fourth PROSPER 5000XL press will enable us to continue our path of steady growth and best serve our customers across multiple markets.”
Toppan Forms utilizes the PROSPER 5000XL press as part of its personalized solution for the Japanese education publishing market. The system allows print buyers to use a fully digital workflow to cost effectively and efficiently move orders from client to completion. In addition, the PROSPER 5000XL Press plays a central role as Toppan Forms continuously offers new capabilities and services in high-speed variable-data printing.
The KODAK PROSPER 5000XL press brings offset-class output approaching 175 lines/in. with roll-fed speeds of up to 650 fpm (200 mpm). The press features a monthly duty cycle of up to 90 million A4 pages and is able to handle both coated and uncoated papers, including glossy coated, with basis weights ranging from 45–300 gsm (30–200 lbs). This combination of speed and superior quality makes the PROSPER 5000XL press one of the most productive inkjet web presses on the market for 8-, 12-, and 16-page signatures, Kodak reports.
