Mactac Announces Study of Foam Bonding

STOW, OH | Mactac has released a new study designed to help customers select the best adhesive technology for specific foam bonding application requirements. The study tests the performance of company’s proprietary rubber adhesive products featuring, MP593XT, MP899 Foam Bonding Tape, and new MP410 high-tack acrylic adhesive on Ensolite and Monarch brands of component foams from Armacell and K-Flex Performance foam materials.

Foam grades tested include ethylene propylene diene monomer (EPDM), nitrile, PVC blends and neoprene blends—all commonly used in the gasket and seal, automotive, mass transit, military and marine markets, where pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA) tapes often serve as assembly aids and primary fasteners, company says.

“Provided in an easy-to-use, customer-guide format, the results of our foam bonding study deliver to customers evidence-based details on how to properly pair adhesive with foam substrate for successful adhesion that will meet precise and specific application requirements,” says Janet Page, marketing manager, Mactac Performance Adhesives.
