Honors for Creating Packaging Program

SPRINGFIELD, MA | The Paperboard Packaging Council recently honored Dianne Vanover, marketing coordinator of Thoro Packaging, for her idea and effort in instituting National Paperboard Packaging Week. In 2007 Vanover conceived the idea to create a nationally recognized week for paperboard packaging. This led to developing TICCIT (pronounced “ticket,” an acronym for “Trees Into Cartons, Cartons Into Trees”), an outreach and educational program for fourth through sixth graders. Through TICCIT, PPC members partner with local elementary schools to make a presentation to students about the benefits of recycling, how paper is made, and why trees are important to the earth's lifecycle. TICCIT is held during National Paperboard Packaging Week, which this year will take place from April 18-22. For more information about TICCIT, visit www.ppcnet.org/ticcit.
