Impact of 3D Printing on the Converting Industry

My personal learning curve for 3D printing is pretty wide. You experts out there, tell me and our website visitors and E-Clips subscribers: What impact do you think 3D printing will have on the converting industry--if at all?

Sporadically, I receive news about how 3D printer technology has been implemented, or I'll receive information about educational events focusing on this new technology. Do you see 3D printing as a disruptive technology for our industry? If not, why not; or if so, how?

Some cool stuff! But is it a technology converters will use? Maybe we're at the bleeding edge of a new technology not too unlike digital printing when it first arrived on the scene about 20 years ago.
