AIMCAL Web Coating & Handling & 2013 Charleston

The keynote speaker was Professor Kaye Cooksey from Clemson University who gave an informative talk on packaging history, requirements and the interactions between foods and packaging.

While there were many interesting papers given in three separate tracks, I focused on web handling, the bain of all converters.  Several experts presented on this topic,and it was well worth the time spent to gather new information.  Of course, there were several papers on metallizing and coatings, which were informative.  I listened to an interesting paper by Tetra Pak on Atomic Force Spectroscopy and how to relate its output to interply adhesion, perhaps my favorite of the conference.
