Exopack Establishes Center of Excellence in Spartanburg, SC

SPARTANBURG, SC | Exopack announces the establishment of a manufacturing Center of Excellence for its pet food business in Spartanburg, further emphasizing the company’s continued commitment to be a leader in the development and manufacture of packaging solutions for the pet food market.

This move follows the completion of the closure of Exopack’s Seymour, IN, plant and the consolidation of Seymour’s manufacturing assets to Spartanburg and various other Exopack facilities. By balancing assets with current market conditions, Exopack now has a differentiated manufacturing platform, driven by continuous improvement initiatives focused on operational and customer service excellence.

Completion of this nearly $6.5 million project provides the Spartanburg facility with increased printing and converting capacity and broadens its substrate diversity. This complements Exopack’s recent investments in pet food, including a Starlinger woven polypropylene converting cell and a Comexi ten-color, gearless quick change press for the Spartanburg plant and two Totani Flat Bottom Quad Seal converting lines and two B&B Quad Seal converting lines in Tomah, WI.

Further strengthening Exopack’s leadership position within the pet food market, Bob Arvanites has reassumed the duties of president, Pet Food Div. With 23 years of packaging experience, including 17 years exclusively involved in pet food packaging, Bob possesses the necessary mix of leadership skills, market knowledge, and established relationships to support continued growth of Exopack’s pet food business.

Additionally, Kevin Constantine, president of Exopack’s Performance Paper Div., has been appointed to the board of directors for the Paper Shipping Sack Manufacturer’s Assn. Kevin’s position on the board will allow Exopack to cultivate relationships with its multiwall kraft paper and converting equipment suppliers, as well as providing the company’s innovation pipeline with advanced knowledge of next generation developments in paper and sack manufacturing.
