NETANYA, ISRAEL—Scitex Vision reports its customer, Simpsongroup, a UK-based manufacturer of point-of-purchase (POP) and point-of-sale (POS) corrugated displays, is the first converter to install the OEM's CORjet, "the world's first industrial, digital inkjet press for corrugated applications."
Reports Simpsongroup managing director Mark Simpson, "The CORjet will enhance [our] capacity for [top-of-the-line] digital print work greatly. It comes complete with integrated finishing equipment, elmininating the time needed to set up die cutting as well as the cost of the dies. This seamless process, from start to finish, makes it the fastest system in the UK," he adds.
A complete system comprising its own RIP software unit and system controller, automatic loader and unloader, print engine and drying unit, the CORjet, says Scitex Vision, uses the same standard-format artwork files as used for digital flexo or litho production.
"The CORjet prints with four- or six-color configurations using environmentally friendly, water-based inks developed and produced by Scitex Vision and approved for use in food packaging by the US Food and Drug Administration," explains the manufacturer. Scitex Vision adds the CORject can print sheet sizes up to 160 x 320 cm (63 x126 in.) at a rate of up to 150 m2/hr (1,614 sq ft/hr), "delivering up to 29 full-format sheets per hour, in high-quality 600 dpi 'two-pass mode.'"
Simpson also adds, "It is ideal for producing in-store POP in volumes up to 300 to 400 units. The fact it runs with water-based inks and is environmentally friendly makes it perfect for producing materials for the food industry."
