CHICAGO, IL | With its theme of “Shaping your business,” M-PLAS 2011, 5th International Plastics and Rubber Trade Fair for Malaysia, reportedly concluded on a positive note. Held November 9–12 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, the event welcomed 156 exhibitors from 19 countries, including national pavilions and country group exhibits from Austria, China, Italy, and Singapore. The exhibition attracted some 3,300 trade visitors, with 90% coming from Malaysia.
According to Gernot Ringling, managing director of show organizer Messe Düsseldorf Asia, “M-PLAS 2011 has demonstrated its relevance as a platform for the plastics and rubber industry once again with an overall show quality that has remained strong and feedback from the show floor that has been positive despite the decrease in attendance. Trade visitors were focused in their approach and targeted who they wanted to meet and what type of product they were looking for.”
Adds Mario Maggiani, Secretary General of the Italian Plastics and Rubber Processing Machinery and Moulds Mfrs. Assn., “We saw good quality customers visiting M-PLAS 2011…. Though it is small, Malaysia is a very interesting and one of the most developed markets for plastics and rubber in Southeast Asia. It is easier especially for European companies to enter into this market as there is a huge demand for high-end products.”
