RotoMetrics Opens New Converting Technology Center

ST. LOUIS, MO | RotoMetrics opens in December a new Converting Technology Center to demonstrate the company’s latest product innovations, located at its world headquarters near St. Louis. The Center spans 2,000 sq ft (186 sq m) and features live demonstrations of die-cutting and modular processing equipment, claimed among the most advanced in the industry. Additionally, the area serves as a research and development center. Steve Lee, VP of Technology, comments, "This is a one-of-a-kind product demo center to show converters just how impressive this equipment is. Customers have been anxious to see their products perform when running live converting applications, and now we are able to fulfill that request by showing them first-hand exactly how much more productive their operations can be. It also allows our R&D team to engineer and test products that keep RotoMetrics and our customers at the forefront of technology."
Featured is a 26-in. Rotary Processing Module, designed to convert a wide range of materials such as flexible packaging, folding cartons, and pressure-sensitive labels. Applications include creasing, die-cutting, and embossing with solid or flexible dies in processing widths up to 34 in. (863mm). The equipment, claims Ulrich Kretzschmar, RotoMetrics Business Development manager, allows converters to maximize efficiency on high-output, high-speed applications. "The Rotary Processing Module delivers on the industry's increased need for accuracy in flexible packaging, especially for the growing resealable packaging market," says Kretzschmar.
Also featured is a 16-in. Pantec Electroman hot foil stamping system that’s said to achieve higher run speeds compared to other conventional systems because of a unique, oil encapsulated hybrid mandrel which allows for even heat distribution across the cylinder surface. Electrical energy, notes product manager Andy Schmitz, is used to heat the mandrel, while the encapsulated oil ensures efficient heat transfer and offers clean, safe, and reliable operation. “The system,” says Schmitz, “is engineered to allow a retrofit into most existing flexo presses.”
