Davis-Standard Introduces New Coater at Labelexpo America
- Published: September 06, 2010
FULTON, NY | Davis-Standard, LLC, will promote a new coater design and other coating technologies at booth #1525 during Labelexpo Americas, September 14—16 in Rosemont, IL, near Chicago. These versatile technologies are said to support processes involving fluoropolymers, biopolymers, and formulations for end market applications in photovoltaics, aerospace, biodegradable packaging and surface protecting films.
Davis-Standard’s new coater features a modular design that incorporates a floor-mounted docking station and independent coater modules. Each module is capable of a different process setup, but can also be programmed the same and swapped out to simplify cleaning and reduce downtime. Mechanical drives are included and only require air and electrical connections. This coater is primarily designed for narrow web applications.
A complete range of control technology is available for each coating process. The DS5 (Davis-Standard Secure Service Support System) enables service personnel to respond to customer needs, diagnose and fix problems via a secure, high-speed Internet connection. Immediate online access to equipment is said to minimize lengthy downtimes.
The Integrator C is a new single-point system that replaces obsolete CMR systems. It has the functionality of the CMR, but with additional features such as recipe management, historical data trending and alarms. It also features a PLC drive interface, improved temperature controls and enhanced gauge control based on the age of the existing gauge system. The Integrator Pro combines line control and data monitoring into one highly functional information center.
Company says it is specifically designed for high-level converting processes including cast film, blown film, extrusion coating, solvent and aqueous coating and drying. Using a Windows point-and-click interface, operators can monitor system operations, track quality standards, collect and trend historical data, and store product recipes from a standard PC computer.
A range of coaters and coating heads are available with more than 50 coating configurations. Innovative accessories, such as the patented CAS (coating air separation) system, the Steamex re-humidification system, and the patented pressurized gravure head (PGH) system, are available. Liquid coating and laminating machines are equipped for window protection and optical films, release and adhesive tapes, photography products, solar and battery applications, and other unique products.
