Appleton Papers Sells Performance Packaging Division

CHICAGO, IL  | Mesirow Financial acted as the exclusive financial advisor to Appleton Papers Inc. on the sale of Appleton Performance Packaging division to an affiliate of Mason Wells, a Milwaukee-based private equity firm for $58 million. Appleton Performance Packaging is a leading manufacturer of custom single and multi-layer polyethylene blown films for the flexible packaging market. The company designs and produces a complete line of mono, co-extrusion and up to nine-layer barrier films. Appleton Performance Packaging’s operations consist of three strategically placed manufacturing facilities located in Rhinelander, WI, Milton, WI and Turners Falls, MA. Appleton Performance Packaging will be renamed NEX Performance Films Inc. and will be owned by Mason Wells, current management and other co-investors.
