SPRINGFIELD, MA—On May 24-25, 2010, the Paperboard Packaging Council (PPC) hosted the Folding Carton Boot Camp workshop at PPC headquarters in Springfield, MA. Nineteen people attended the workshop from 13 different states and included packaging salespeople, procurement managers, marketing directors, financial executives, quality control managers, and front office staff.
The program mirrored the packaging production process, moving from how paper is made to inks and coatings, prepress, CAD, layout, graphics, presses, tooling, embossing, stamping, stripping, finishing, gluing, windowing, and automatic packaging equipment. To honor completing this important educational program, participants were each awarded a certificate of completion at the end of the session.
The Folding Carton Boot Camp, according to the organization, is ideal for anyone new to carton construction (even if not new to the industry) as well as non-plant personnel with limited experience outside a single plant operation. The next Boot Camp is scheduled for December 7—8, 2010; registration information can be found at www.ppcnet.org/bootcamp .
