Spear Opens Facility in South Africa

JOHANNESBURG, SOUTH AFRICA | Spear has begun operations at its new facility in Johannesburg, South Africa. The 5,500-sq.-m. facility will produce pressure-sensitive, cut-stack, and OPP wrap labels on a wide and narrow web press complement, highlighted by a new Cerutti 960/2 1,000 mm gravure press.

Spearsystem Packaging Africa will operate as a subsidiary of Spear Group Holdings Ltd., and includes BEE (Black Economic Empowerment) ownership partner Lidonga.

Spears will celebrate its South African entry with an open house on Dec. 5, 2007, from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The facility is located at:
