MDC Receives ERA Award

HUNTERSVILLE, NC—The European Rotogravure Assn. presented an Innovtaion Award to Max Daetwyler Corp. for its Starbase Cylinder System. The award was presented during the ERA Packaging Conference held in Kiev, Ukraine on November 14 – 15, 2005.

The Starbase Cylinder System is a manufacturing process to produce lightweight gravure cylinders. Advantages reportedly include: cost savings by using polymer material rather than steel, reduced shipping and handling costs, storage flexibility, easier handling and press loading, and quicker set-up. Existing cylinders can be resized with the Starbase Cylinder System rather than needing to purchase new cylinder bases.
