Labelexpo China 2003 Dubbed 'A Remarkable Success'

LONDON, UK—Labelexpo China boasted some major label industry players—Akzo Nobel, Avery Dennison, HP Indigo, Ko-Pack, Mark Andy, Nilpeter, Raflatac, Rotoflex, among them—and according to show sponsor UK-based Tarsus Group, the venue was a "remarkable success." More than 5,000 visitors and approximately 100 exhibitors participated in the December 9 - 11, 2003, exposition.

In addition to the trade show, Tarsus says more than a thousand attendees also took advantage of the free conference, "China—Towards a Profitable Future."

Tarsus reports that among the unusual experiences on the show floor was the situtation of two printers bidding against one another for a 6-color flexo press on KDO's stand. "This is the best show we've done for ages, and we do six or seven exhibitions a year," says KDO's Russell Oddy. "It just doesn't happen that somebody we've never met comes onto the stand and buys a machine. Ten years ago Russia was the biggest market for us, but China will swamp Russia."

Show director Roger Pellow adds, "Labelexpo China exceeded all of our expectations. [It] was fully sold out and a good quantity and quality of visitors attended from all over China, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, Philippines, and Taiwan. …We now look forward to Labelexpo China 2005, which we expect to be double the size of this year's event."

• Visitors were mainly from China, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, and Thailand—but also included 50 individuals from Europe and 26 from the USA
