United Graphics Intros In-House Sheeting with Valmet's TSK Model

BEDFORD, U.K.—Valmet Converting reports United Graphics Inc., Mattoon, IL, USA, will introduce in-house sheeting into its sheet-fed printing operation with the addition of Valmet's TSK sheeter. According to the converting equipment supplier, United Graphics decided to add the capability as part of an on-going quality and efficiency improvement program.

"In-house sheeting brings many benefits to a sheet-fed printing company," states Valmet's press release, "including cost reduction, better quality control, increased flexibility, and reductions in inventory. Jeff Scrimager and Kevin Garretson therefore took on the task of studying sheeting as a subject and investigating sheeter manufacturers. The study was extensive and thorough," adds Valmet, "with many established sheeter users and suppliers contacted, with trials run on several machines."

Ultimately, says the co., United Graphics decided to invest in Valmet's TSK sheeter, which reportedly will be supplied to the converter with "highly specified" features like four shaftless unwinds, individual web tension controls and decurlers, digital slitter positioning, a web cleaner, and an automatic skid-change system. This order, adds Valmet, brings the total of Valmet TSK sheeters sold in the USA and Canada to eight machines since 2001.
