Maxson Sheeter Suited for Thermoform Industry

WESTERLY, RI | Maxson Automatic Machinery Company announces a sheeter for the thermoform industry, saying manufacturers of PET plastic can now sheet their product at higher speeds in-line with their extruders than with conventional drop shear equipment. 

In this sheeter design, the cutting section includes knives mounted in an upper and lower rotating cylinders. The cylinders accelerate and decelerate during each revolution such that the peripheral speed of the blades and the speed of the web are equal at the cutting point maintaining sheet length accuracy and squareness. This cutting action eliminates the skive along the leading and trailing edge on thicknesses to 0.060 in. (1.5 mm) thick, without producing slivers. Using an exclusive clash arrangement, operator can adjust the cross cutting blades safely while the cutter is running, says company.

The SDFK sheeter can handle cut lengths from 11–2,000 in. (279–51,000 mm) at speeds to 300 fpm (90 mpm). A continuous operating system is provided that allows sheeted material to be accumulated until the completed pile is removed. This allows the extruder to produce product during skid changes.

The sheeting line can be equipped with a reject gate that diverts off-specification material from the stacker to a customer-supplied bin, assuring product quality.
