PCT Engineered Systems to Hold Open House
- Published: April 01, 2016
DAVENPORT, IA | PCT Engineered Systems announces an open house at its Davenport headquarters, scheduled for May 16, the day after the 2016 RadTech conference concludes in Rosemont, IL. The event will provide information to those interested in immersing themselves into what PCT says is the sometimes mysterious world of electron beam (ebeam) technology.
Company says that, while conference attendees and others near Rosemont that day can take advantage of a complimentary round-trip chartered coach departing from the Hyatt Regency O’Hare that morning, anyone interested in gaining better insight into ebeam technology is welcome to attend the open house.
PCT explains that ebeam technology has been long associated with delivering powerful, safe, cost-effective curing and crosslinking solutions, most often on web offset presses. However, ebeam curing solutions now exist for digital inkjet, flexographic, and gravure printing applications. Ebeam is also expanding into other application areas such as 3D curing, surface sterilization, and coating curing for wood, composite building materials, and metals.
Misconceptions about ebeam still exist, company says, primarily because companies that have invested in ebeam solutions rarely open their operations to the public. PCT believes that the variety of operating machinery, technology overviews, application demonstrations, and other activities planned during the open house will help to enlighten those who have encountered limited ebeam technology accessibility.
PCT general manager Terry Thompson says, “We will have at least six operating ebeam systems of varying sizes on our shop floor during our May Open House, as well as our pilot line and EBLab R&D system. This event is an excellent opportunity for anyone interested in ebeam technology to get first-hand experience with a wide variety of machine configurations and ebeam applications.”
The tour bus will leave the Hyatt Regency O’Hare at 8 a.m. Thursday morning and make the two-and-a-half hour trip to PCT. Guests will receive an overview of ebeam technology, tour the PCT facility, enjoy lunch, and experience several ebeam applications before returning to the Hyatt at 5 p.m. that afternoon.
Company says it and its partners create cleaner processes, no use of chemicals, less energy consumption, better quality products, and greater resource efficiency. COMET Group acquired PCT last year, placing the operations in its Ebeam Technologies division. The division manufactures the ebeam lamps and engines in the systems that PCT manufactures.
