OMRON Acquires Delta Tau Data Systems

KYOTO, JAPAN | OMRON Corporation reports its entry into a stock purchase agreement to acquire a 100% stake in control device company Delta Tau Data Systems (DT), Chatsworth, CA, which will result in DT becoming a member of the OMRON Group. The acquisition is subject to customary conditions to closing. Omron expects the acquisition to close in early September 2015.

OMRON says this acquisition is part of a strategy to promote its development of factory automation technology and strengthen its sales capability in the control device business. Through the acquisition, company aims to reinforce its technology development and engineering capabilities in the field of motion control, designed to drive manufacturing equipment. Merging products and technologies of both companies will also enable delivery of optimized motion control solutions globally through combined distribution networks.

DT, as a specialist manufacturer of motion controllers offers The “PMAC,” reportedly used mainly by US and Korean producers of semiconductor and LCD manufacturing equipment, machine tools, packaging machines, among others. This acquisition will allow OMRON to combine DT’s PMAC motion controller with its wide range of products and offer new solutions to its customers globally.
