Cortec Film Offers Protection for Metal Parts

ZAGREB, CROATIA | Cortec Corporation announced recyclable and non-toxic VpCI-126 EM UV film, which combines high-strength resins with ultraviolet light stabilizers and Vapor phase Corrosion Inhibitor (VpCI) Technology. Film construction is said to provide strong multi-metal protection for parts, equipment, and vehicles for up to three years and enable contact, barrier, and vapor-phase protection even in very aggressive outdoor conditions. The product contains unique inhibitors that protect the polymer from UV exposure and prevent degradation, company adds.

Film, said to eliminate disposal costs, is described as economical and ideally suited for transit, staging, and lay-up of critical equipment, including equipment with large void spaces, multiple metals, and complex geometries. It is called a safe and improved replacement for harmful conventional rust preventatives such as oils and desiccants. Parts protected with these films are ready to use with no additional cleaning and/or degreasing necessary, saving customers time and money. Film is also transparent, making it easy to identify parts without compromising package.

Reportedly, metal parts packaged in the film receive continuous protection against salt air and humid environments, moisture, aggressive industrial atmospheres, and dissimilar metal corrosion. The VpCIs vaporize and condense on all metal surfaces within the enclosed space and diffuse to every area of the part, protecting its exterior, as well as void spaces and recessed areas.
