MARLBOROUGH, MA | Web Industries and CAD Cut (a Web Industries company) announce the expansion of Web’s Atlanta facility to include table-based automated prepreg cutting and ply kitting services. The addition of this new material formatting capability will allow Web Atlanta to support all varieties of composites fabrication used by the region’s aerospace, defense, and aviation industries from one centrally located, AS9100C certified location.
The Web Atlanta facility was purpose-built in 2005 to be the company’s Composites Center of Excellence and houses both Web’s main domestic composites formatting operations and the Composites Automation Development Center, a material evaluation and processability testing facility.
Adding automated ply cutting and ply kitting capacity to the Atlanta location will allow Web Industries to further leverage its existing composites formatting, quality assurance, freezer storage, and material handling infrastructure and will give the region’s manufacturers a “single-source” supplier for formatted prepreg composites.
“The growing use of composites in commercial and military aircraft is increasing market demand for aerospace-grade composite formatting services,” says Blake Batley, VP of sales and marketing for Web Industries. “Expanding Web Atlanta’s formatting capabilities to include ply cutting and ply kitting allows us to support the growing number of aerospace manufacturers located in the Southeast. Whether these companies use hand lay-up or Automated Fiber Placement production methods, Web Industries will be able to supply their fabrication operations at commercial-scale levels.”
This will be Web’s third CAD Cut ply cutting and kitting service center, joining CAD Cut’s Vermont and Texas operation centers.
