Telstar Engineering Offers Servo Control Systems

BURNSVILLE, MD | Telstar Engineering offers servo control systems said to be ideal for:
• Replacing obsolete infeed tension systems to provide the latest servo technology for controlling a web tension zone.
• Isolating turret unwind web tension capabilities to provide constant low-tension settings in a UV laminating operation.
• Creating an isolated constant tension zone in printing and converting operations.
Featuring a compact stand-alone design, system is said to hold precise constant tension during press ramp start, run, press ramp stop, and while stopped. Offers constant tension as low as two pounds total. Touch screen HMI can be satellite mounted in a convenient location, and system has touch screen selectable tension algorithms for paper, film, and foil, plus one user-customizable selection for unique circumstances.
Reportedly, systems can be mounted almost anywhere a tension zone needs to be created. Set-up times are shortened, company says, and scrap is reduced by not having to run so much stock to get in register. The primary unwind roll tension is isolated so little or no registration adjustments are required during the run that have been previously caused by tension variations due to loosely wound rolls and tension variations as the roll depletes. Laminated product curl is eliminated by holding constant tension from beginning to end of the laminate roll.
Company will display its equipment at Labelexpo Americas 2014 September 9–11, at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, IL.
