AMSTERDAM, THE NETHERLANDS | AWA Alexander Watson Associates announces the “Heat Shrink Sleeve Label Technical Manual and Test Methods,” which it says is the first compilation of test methods for heat shrink (TD) sleeve labels.
AWA says heat shrink sleeves are the most rapidly growing labeling technologies, providing opportunities to designers, material suppliers, converters, packaging technologists, and all involved in the value chain for their conversion and use. The manual reportedly will provide a cornerstone for improving the understanding of the basic characteristics that ensure the successful use of this product decoration technology.
Contents include:
• Test methods
• Shrink force
• Inks and coatings
• Surface tension of plastic films
• Ink adhesion, basic and advanced
• Chemical resistance–spot method
• Rub resistance of printed UV-cured inks
• Ink adhesion under shrink conditions
• Coefficient of friction of printed surfaces
• Label sizing and shrink percentages
• Common sleeve label defects
This 1st edition contains nine test methods, and AWA says it will be updated and added to accordingly in subsequent editions.
