ExxonMobil to Demonstrate mPE Resins at K 2013

BRUSSELS, BELGIUM | ExxonMobil Chemical says the combination of its metallocene polyethylene (mPE) resins and coextrusion blown film technology from Guangdong Jinming Machinery Co. offers reliable, cost-effective five-layer polyolefin dedicated (POD) collation shrink packaging films. At K 2013, October 16–23, in Düsseldorf, Germany, Jinming will demonstrate a formulation for a five-layer blown collation shrink multipack display film using ExxonMobil’s Exceed and Enable mPE resins.
The film formulation, which includes Enable mPE resin-based sub-skin sandwich layers and Exceed mPE resin-based outer layers, is said to provide excellent shrink force and stiffness. A thinner sealing layer combines excellent sealability with easy cutability, and film downgauging is possible. The film also provides good optical properties and print surface for effective retail marketing, company says.
Reportedly, the 35-micron collation shrink film is well suited for printed and displayed multi-pack bundling applications such as bottles and beverages, canned goods, hand soaps, detergents, and health & beauty aids.
Also featured at K 2013 will be a demonstration of ExxonMobil’s mPE resins with three-layer coextrusion blown film technology from Lung Meng Machinery Co., another combination said to deliver collation shrink film with excellent performance. The line can be configured to meet customers’ needs, with a film width to 1,750 mm and an extrusion output of 450 kg/hr.
