AIMCAL to Manage Coating Symposium for ISCST
- Published: April 08, 2013
LONDON, ON, CANADA | The International Society of Coating Science and Technology (ISCST) has selected the Assn. of International Metallizers, Coaters and Laminators (AIMCAL), Fort Mill, SC, to manage its International Coating Science and Technology Symposium scheduled for Sept. 7–10, 2014, at the Sheraton Carlsbad Resort in Carlsbad, CA.
The 17th edition of the biennial Symposium will provide a forum for researchers from academic and industrial settings to discuss the latest research on application and solidification of thin liquid films. Session topics include coating and drying processes of traditional high-capacity coating operations but increasingly focus on emerging technology such as photovoltaics, fuel and battery cells, biomedical applications, and electronic displays.
Under the partnership, ISCST committees will continue to set the theme, recruit speakers, and organize the program content, while AIMCAL handles all other meeting details, including logistics and registration.
“AIMCAL is known for running excellent meetings and brings us that expertise,” says ISCST President Andrew N. Hrymak, PhD, PEng, who also serves as professor and dean of the Dept. of Chemical & Biochemical Engineering at the University of Western Ontario in London, ON. “There also are synergies between the two groups since both focus on web coating and finishing.”
Craig Sheppard, executive director of AIMCAL, agrees. “Our missions are quite similar, and there are opportunities where greater value can be realized through partnering. We plan to explore opportunities for additional joint efforts as the relationship between the two groups evolves.”
