CGS Shows Off Software, Color Control

MINNEAPOLIS, MN | Workflow and color developer CGS Publishing Technologies Intl. offered two solutions for the packaging industry at the recent INFO*FLEX 2012 in San Antonio, TX, presented by the Flexographic Technical Assn.: RealVue 3D Packager software and ORIS Color Tuner // Web, said to demonstrate precision color control for packaging prototypes, even with spot colors and metallics.

With RealVue 3D Packager, die line data can be easily imported from Adobe Illustrator or CAD files (DXF), company says. Folding and fitting sequences are animated automatically, allowing the designer to visualize the finished package in a real-world simulation. Artwork from Adobe Illustrator can then be applied. Special effects, including gloss, metallic, holographic, embossing, and cutouts can also be simulated, reportedly with extreme accuracy.

In concert with advanced printer/cutter devices from Roland and others, ORIS Color Tuner // Web provides contract-quality color, including spot colors and metallics, using a patented process for calibration and control—without the need for costly manual “tweaking” of color values. In combination with ORIS, the Roland line is called ideal for prototyping any kind of flexible or rigid packaging.
