The Society of Vacuum Coaters draws industry professionals, engineers, academics, and scientists to its annual conference and expo.
The Society of Vacuum Coaters, Albuquerque, NM, will hold TechCon 2018, its 61st Annual Technical Conference, May 5-10 at the Gaylord Palms Resort and Convention Center in Orlando, FL. SVC reports this is the largest expo dedicated to vacuum coating technologies and materials.
The association offers both a technical program (May 7-10) and an extensive educational program (May 5-10). The conference symposia theme is “Multi-Functional Thin Films – The Tailoring of Interfaces.”
An accompanying vendor exhibition will be held May 8 and 9. More than 150 global exhibitors are expected.

Technical Program
WebTech Roll-to-Roll Coatings is the forum for flexible web and roll-to-roll processing at SVC. Attendees will learn about new achievements in processing of flexible substrates, such as polymer or textile webs and thin glass, and encompasses manufacturing techniques, products, market developments, and economical aspects of this versatile high-volume manufacturing method.
Invited speakers include Yves Leterrier, Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne, Switzerland, whose will present "Mechanical Integrity of Functional Multilayer Films—From Fundamentals to Design Guidelines." Valentijn von Morgen, DuPont Teijin Films UK, will present "Ultra-Clean and High Performance Substrates for Large Area Flexible Electronics."
EDUCATION PROGRAM
In addition to the Technical Program, SVC offers full-day and half-day Tutorial Courses that cover Vacuum Technology, Vacuum Coating Deposition Processes and Technology, and Miscellaneous Topics. SVC reports tutorial registrants receive complimentary admission to the exhibition and are eligible to receive a free one-day pass to the technical conference on either Tuesday, May 8, or Wednesday, May 9. Technology Exhibit
Visitors to TechCon's technology exhibit will see a full range of equipment, materials, and supplies associated with the vacuum coating process. TechCon's exhibit hours are 11:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 8, and 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 9.

NETWORKING OPPORTUNITIES
A full slate of networking events is planned, including a companions program, young members luncheon, Fun Run and Walk, Meet the Experts Corner, the First Annual SVC Foundation Casino Night, and more. The Casino Night supports the SVC Foundation’s scholarships to further education in the field of vacuum coating technology.
The Awards Ceremony and Welcome Reception on May 7 will introduce and recognize the Nathaniel Sugerman Memorial recipient, SVC Mentor Award recipients, and the Sponsored Student Awardees.
