Three for the Price of One

Las Vegas has long been a city of intrigue and wealth, where people enter with optimism about fortune and change. This October, Las Vegas will be no different, as converters and packagers flock to the Las Vegas Convention Center to catch a glimpse of the future of the converting industry.
October 5 will mark the start of the 2009 Converting & Package Printing Expo (CPP). As in years past, the event will be co-located with Pack Expo and Process Expo. From October 5-7, CPP will host nearly 100 exhibitors on 50,000 sq ft of contiguous floor space. Exhibits will be open from 9 A.M. to 4 P.M. all three days.
Targeting a converter audience serving the food, beverage, household, pharmaceutical, and personal care sectors, this show features equipment and material manufacturers that will exhibit the most up-to-date products and innovative processes. As well, attendees can hear the industry's leading professionals in planned conferences. This year's focus seems to be sensible spending and sustainability. Conferences will be held on the following topics:
- In-line printing and laminations
- Sustainable packaging: Reducing the carbon footprint
- Redefine folding carton printer and converter
- Value-added printing in the future of packaging markets
Leo Nadolske, president of CPP Expo Las Vegas, hopes the show will provide a much-needed boost for companies struggling in this difficult economic environment. “The economic climate ahead is laden full of surprises and challenges. Our industry must meet what lies ahead with innovation and creativity so that at the end of the day, we persevere and continue to grow…. We have taken the necessary steps to ensure that you are provided with the best efficiencies in time and costs as possible over these three days.”
CPP promises this year's conference will be a valuable one for everyone involved, and it has the history to back it up. According to a survey of people at last year's CPP, more than 80% described the rate of return on the investment of attending as good to excellent.
Industries that will have a presence at CPP include flexible packaging, folding carton/boxmaking, corrugated converting, tissue converting, and narrow web/tag and label. CPP will keep attendees and exhibitors as up to the minute as possible, covering changes in package printing from digital prepress and workflow solutions to finishing equipment, including slitting, rewinding, coating, and laminating.
Enhancing the Experience
This year, CPP has moved from the second level of the center's South Hall to floor level, which Nadolske hopes will make moving through the three shows easier. “Coming from the upper level of the South Hall to the lower level (street level) will certainly enhance the expo experience for the attendees who are navigating the three-hall show,” he said. “We're right in the heart of all the action.”
With three related shows under one roof, CPP 2009 is a great way for converters to see as much as possible in a single trade show visit, which is especially valuable to companies trying to cut back. Nadolske encourages converters to take advantage of the three-in-one concept, saying, “If you can only go to one trade show in 2009, why not go to three?”
