MWV (MeadWestvaco) has received chain of custody certification to the Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) program and the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification schemes (PEFC) chain of custody standards.
Chain of custody is the process of tracking and recording the possession and transfer of wood fiber from the forest of origin, through manufacture, production, and processing states, and finally, to its end use.
The dual certification covers the company's four US-based paperboard mills in Covington, VA; Evadale, TX; Mahrt, AL:, and Charleston, SC. It also applies to sheeting and extruding facilities in Low Moor, VA; Silsbee, TX; and Venlo, Netherlands; and to 12 of its integrated package converting plants in North America, Europe, and Asia.
