  • Aquaflex, Duncansville, PA, reports 2008 sales revenue increased 73% over 2007.

  • Fasson Roll North America, Mentor, OH, is the recipient of the 2008 Environmental Leadership Award from the Tag & Label Mfrs. Inst. Fasson also reports it has developed a focused team that uses Enterprise Lean Sigma (ELS) tools to reduce waste sent to landfills.

  • Xeikon, Wilmington, MA, has entered into a joint referral partnership program with Prism, Itasca, IL, in which Xeikon will offer Prism's MIS products to the label and packaging markets.

  • With the close of GIDUE manufacturing operations in Italy in December 2008, Nuova Castagnoli, also based in Italy, will change its name to GIDUE-Nuova Castagnoli. The company will offer original service and spare parts to GIDUE customers.

  • Specialty Printing, East Windsor, CT, has earned ISO 9001:2000 certification for quality standards.

  • Pemara Label, Melbourne, Australia, has purchased an MBSF automatic butt splicer and an LRD automatic rewind from Martin Automatic, Rockford, IL.

  • Mark Andy Canada reports the Mississauga, ON, manufacturing facility continues to work full time to fill Rotoflex equipment orders since the December 2008 acquisition of Rotoflex by MAI Holdings.

TLMI Announces Singer Award Winners

NAPERVILLE, IL

Tag & Label Mfrs. Inst. (TLMI) announces the winners of the prestigious Eugene Singer Award for Management Excellence. This award recognizes excellence in business management measured and defined by an established set of growth and profitability ratios through the TLMI Management Ratio Study.

Winners of the 2008 TLMI Eugene Singer Awards are Coast Label Co., Fountain Valley, CA, winning for the second time in the small company category, defined by annual sales of less than $6 million. Kopco Graphics, Fairfield, OH, is the winner in the mid-range company category, defined by sales of $6 million-$14 million. Five-time recipient GSI, Burr Ridge, IL, wins the medium company category, defined by sales of $15 million-$35 million. Consolidated Label, Longwood, FL, wins the large company category, defined by sales greater than $35 million. This is Consolidated Label's seventh Eugene Singer Award.

RFID Tags ID, Track Products

International Coding Technologies (ICT) reports the development of a wireless RFID solution for the concrete industry that uses Gen2 RFID tags from UPM Raflatac. The TrackCon system is said to offer a complete product ID and tracking system using a mobile computer with RFID read capabilities and a Cast-A-Code tag that provides cradle-to-grave traceability. The Cast-A-Code tag features UPM Raflatac's DogBone UHF tag and a watertight, castable RFID inlay.
