ALOX Coater & CPP Film Line Debuting in Egypt

NOIDA, INDIA | UFLEX Group, and India-based manfuacturer of flexible packaging materials, will commision an aluminum oxide coater, dubbed ALOX, on Oct. 6, 2011, near Cairo where a 12,000 million tons/yr cast polypropylene (CPP) line already has started up.
Reportedly, this capability places UFLEX among a select handful of manufacturers that produce aluminum oxide coated films. The ALOX coater will apply a thin and highly transparent coating of aluminium oxide on packaging films to attain extremely high moisture and gas barrier properties that rival those of aluminium foils and metallized films. The levels of barrier available from ALOX-coated films are claimed far superior to those provided by other transparent flexible packaging materials like PVDC-based structures and EVOH coextrusions.
Also at this site is an 8.7-m-wide, 500 mpm state-of-the art biaxially oriented PP (BOPP) film plant, claimed among the world’s largest packaging film lines, that can produce 36,000 million tons/yr, and a plasma enhanced high-barrier metallizer that were commissioned in 2010. This operation is certified as conforming to ISO 9001:2008 standards.
Also an 8.7-m-wide, 500 mpm biaxially oriented polyester (BOPET) film line is presently being installed with another plasma enhanced metallizer slated to come on line this year.
UFLEX has manufacturing facilities in India, Dubai, Mexico, and Egypt. It is in the process of setting up large plants in Poland and in the USA to become operational in 2012.
